James – My email to you (individually) keeps bouncing. Do you have another
email address? The .info one is not working for me.

    Martin, Ben,

if it works for you then i would really like to do this. I am going
through the process of installing svn as my repository control, and also as
a read-only repository for a major open source venture (will let everyone
know when it's done!)

I have already written CNET articles, and I am working on a book, so i
do have writing experience.

With that said, and no objections, martin, feel free to hit me up with
the details!

      Ben, et al.

I read the Linux Journal article and thought that piece presented a
good rationale and roadmap of Subversion.

What I would like to see in Linux Magazine is a hands-on tutorial on
how to deploy and use Subversion.

If there are no takers, I will suggest the topic to our Compile Time
columnist. Compile Time is all about developing code on Linux, and a
hands-on tutorial is very appropriate for that column. A hands-on guide
would also differentiate our piece from the LJ piece.

Subversion has been self-hosting for over a year, and many people
are
using it. It's in the middle of a long march to Beta and 1.0,
mostly
bug fixing for the next few months. A number of folks have started
using it.

I wrote an article about Subversion for Linux Journal last year
(should I mention the competition?!), which is here:

          http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=4768

That said, I'm also busy collaborating on an O'Reilly book about
Subversion. This pretty much marks me as "too busy to write any
more
        articles."

I think is this a *great* opportunity for someone else in our
community
to do some writing (and project promotion).

Who's gonna do it? Step forward!
