problem with svn (what else?)

Hi,

I've started toying with subversion, using the available RPMs. Version
0.14.3. Using ra_local for the moment.

I tried to make a branch by svn cp, and it seemed to work okay, I
could check it out, and do some modifications, check status and so
on.

But after trying to commit (which may or may not be what triggered
it), I am no longer able to access the repository. I can't commit,
checkout, update from the branch or from the trunk (checked out
elsewhere).

An 'strace svn command' reveals that it hangs in a loop doing
select(0,...) (attached below). Any idea what's wrong, and even more
importantly, how to fix it?

I've checked the Issuezilla, to no avail, is there anywhere else I
should have checked, please let me know!
