I read that discussion (I refer to
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=subversion-dev&m=103578531523577&w=1).

AFAICT, it was more about getting rid of silly/redundant
abbreviations, not about not adding new ones.

Well, actually, 'di' is already supported. The patch wanted
to add 'dif'.

Now to the "me too" part: I missed "com" so much that I
already patched my local version to have it. Initially, when
I started to work with version control, I found it a bit
hard to grasp which direction check-in resp. check-out
means, so I got myself used to commit instead.
