I guess this is a pretty good indication that the confusing import syntax is
hurting people. See

proposal.

I was looking at making a patch to cmdline/import-cmd.c and related files, but
frankly it's a little over my head for my first patch. I was hoping it would
be as simple as just removing the new_entry stuff, but it seems that the
import_file() and import_dir() stuff used by svn_client_import() were just
not designed to work without it. Would anyone else care to take a look?
