Samba does a fairly good job of mapping Unix permission bits to NT ACLs,
but I don't think it handles Unix ACLs, too. I know there was a lot of
discussion about that some time ago on the Samba list, but can't
remember how it got resolved (IIRC, it was "let's wait for a POSIX ACL
API first").

And Samba's job is slightly easier, because it only exports the
permissions on the server, it doesn't try to mimic them on different OSs.
