Hmm... no, none of those files are present and I lied before, I *did*
run autogen.sh :) I also deleted /usr/local/svnstatic before compiling.

I did make clean before the configure though, that shouldn't make a
difference, should it?

The only real difference is that I'm building from a directory != the wc
directory at the moment... but I only started doing that recently
because I kept rebuilding this so many times, different ways. My very
first attempt to compile the tarball version with everything in the
working copy were equally fruitless.

And it's been months because I was in Europe, but I was compiling svn on
this box before that!! So it *has* worked :)
