Sorry I've not been taking part in this discussion, my brain has been
working on other problems.

When my time frees up next week, I'll start looking at how to
implement this idea. But the current implementation of 'svn diff' is
just as much Philip's code as it is mine... so Philip, please feel
free to start dissecting and/or rewriting, and I can join you later.
