Doubtful, because it's not a grammar rule, it's typographical, and in
fact it's not a rule in real typography, but a convention used in
typewritten manuscripts in the US (maybe in some other countries too,
but not all). Which are quite similar to monospaced text files, so if
one wants to use the rule that's ok, but it's not universal.
