Oh, yah -- the switch names used up till now were just placeholders
for discussion, I don't think anyone is committed to them. Probably
will stick with "--verbose" but with "-v" as a shorthand (it's a
synonym for --version right now, but that's much less frequently
used).

Ben will be thinking about what to use for the --update functionality;
he's already said he's aware that the option names used until now were
just suggestions. Let's see what he does.

Note that not every option has to be meaningful with all commands, and
in fact many aren't. This would be one of those. (On the other hand,
-v will probably mean something useful for just about everything.)

Now we're going to get a flood of suggested option names and letters,
which is truly bikeshed-painting at this point. :-) So may I request
that folks hold off and just see if you like what Ben commits (you
probably will), and comment only if you think you have a significant
improvement to offer? Thanks.
