As a proxy for potential end-users, I say the "bloated" parsing is quite
handy. I'm building a document management system right now for my wife's
office, where "normal" people will be using it. I'm intending on offering
some level of version control (through CVS, then Subversion, unless the
sky opens up and Perforce comes out as open source :) ). I know that
-they- would be much more comfortable thinking in "human" terms like "last
wednesday", and not having to do that translation to a well-formed date
manually.
