For the record, back when we gave the very first Subversion
presentation, Dave Jeske told us that this kind of scheme results in
chaos. After going back and forth on it, we eventually settled on the
strategy that Karl suggested: try explaining the reality to people
first, and then add sugar-coating as necessary to help the medicine go
down.
