Yes, totally agree, that behavior is stupid.

We have so many details to get right, and the first cut will not be
perfect. It will have many, many stupidities and oversights. I can
personally guarantee that you will, at some point, slap your head and
say, "What *bozos* could have got *that* wrong? What were they
*thinking*?"

When that happens, please bite your tongue and be patient with us, and
report our stupidities as bugs. We will do our best to fix each of
them.
