When Mark replied privately I realized my words were ambiguous. The Xalan-C
project has been making good and steady progress for some time. I meant to
say that *I* made no progress getting it to work in my environment. This was
most likely due to the fact that the documentation at the time was pretty
non-existent and the Xalan-C implementation was young.

I just didn't want anybody thinking I was beating up on the Xalan group.
