I can't reproduce this issue at all. Neither on Vista nor on XP SP3.
Scanning over 27 different working copies with sizes between 460 to 2900
files (~ 40MB - 3.6 GB ).

both Vista and XP SP3 are running on a DualCore processor (no quad core,
sorry). So even problems with multi-threading shouldn't be a factor here.

So: what else could be different on your machines than on mine?
