It's clear from this and other reports that a lot of people are
encountering the problem. Sander Striker has agreed to shepherd
("patcherd"?) one of the various patches into Subversion, so people
won't have to maintain their own modified Subversions anymore.

See issue #1576. And buy Sander a beer... I certainly intend to! :-)
