AFAIK, I haven't run into any trouble with the Windoze EOL characters (I'm
seeing unrelated compilation errors). Do note that I have gcc version 3.2.2-5
(stock RH 9 RPM), rather than the 3.3.1 you suggest. There is an RPM for that
available from RH RawHide, so I plan on revving my gcc and trying that within
the next couple days.

I'd be happy to. I take it that's necessary on a file by file basis rather
than per-directory? The book isn't specific about this, but I'd guess that to
be the case. If so, mind providing the list or pointing to the specific
directory tree of afflicted files? (I'm assuming everything under the javahl/
dir, but would like confirmation.)
