Maybe this is a case of not really needing to build from source, but wanting Subversion installed. Maybe swdev went down an unintended rabbit hole. So if I may ask swdev... why are you building from source? Do you just need a Subversion server set up with the current version?

The being said, openSUSE has all build dependencies and current versions and packages for everything involved here, including patches and rebuild capability if you want to change things. Must most of the time you don't have to.
