xml file handling

Hi there,
I have a strange phenomena.

In ~/.subversion/config I have

[miscellany]
enable-auto-props = yes

[auto-props]
*.xml = svn:eol-style=native; svn:keywords=Author Date Id Revision

Fedora 20, subversion 1.8.5-2

svn add my.xml

svn: E200009: Can't set 'svn:eol-style': file
'/data/mysvn/trunk/my.xml' has binary mime type property

Ubuntu 12.10, subversion 1.7.5-1

svn add my.xml

works just fine,

Any idea why the behavior is different?
