No you don't, just update your working copy to HEAD and delete the
files. This of course will work if your are on HEAD and the files are
still there and not already deleted before. There's even no problem
with deleting files in different directories within your working copy
in the same commit.

Besides that, you should really stop complaining about wrong
documentation just because you are frustrated with getting things
done, if it seems that you simply misunderstood important parts if it.
