Externals using absolute path on Windows

Hi All,

I'm trying to make a plan for migrating some of our source code to SVN and am looking at using externals to deal with some of our code that is shared between libraries. In doing this I have come across the issue number 4073 (Assert on Windows absolute paths in svn:externals) which is preventing me from being able to map our externals to absolute paths (we are all Windows based machines here).

The link for the issue is below:
http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4073

Is anyone aware of any work arounds for issue number 4073? I guess using relative paths is likely to work but that would require changes to a number of our projects that we would rather not tackle at this time. Are there any special characters or special methods of formatting the path that I can use to get the externals to work? If not does anyone have any idea about the timescales for the version in which this issue is likely to be resolved?

If any more details are needed then please just let me know.

Best Regards,
David
