a completely centralized system such as Subversion, which is that laptop or
remote users cannot record changes locally without being connected to the
centralized system. Subversion is also very popular and relatively easy to
learn. Perhaps you could describe what you're attempting to achieve, and
contact a company like Wandisco if you need to integrate a new corporate
grade centralized setup? They have good high availability and backup
toolkits, and are leading development, so if you need corporate grade
support I'd definitely give them a call.
A demo is trivial to set up with the existing free and open sourced
binaries for evey major operating system. If you have *old* operating
systems you need to support with the latest features, you may have a
problem, but this is true of every modern source control system.
