Read-Only file systems (Was: Worst Error Message?)

Just out of curiosity:

Can subversion cope with repositories and working-copies on read-only media?

Maybe some Live-Demo CD bringing an example SVN repository?

And can the V1.7 sqlite database be opened read-only?
