I'm using:

This is on Mac Snow Leopard.

I have to put "-r2" and not just "r2". I tried it.

I'm downloading the Windows version and try it there.

I had another trigger where I needed to do a "svnlook propget" and
ended up doing a "svnlook proplist -v" instead, so apparently this
wasn't the first time I ran into this issue.

Hmmm. April of this year? It looks like I replaced the version of
Subversion that came on the Mac with CollabNet's version. I'm
downloading the Snow Leopard (Intel only) version. It's version
1.6.17. Maybe that'll take care of the issue.
