When I did this on some centos system i had to follow this guide:
http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/RPMForge

There was also some way of setting up priorities for package
repositories, so that only some packages (like subversion)
would come from rpmforge. I don't remember the details, though.
