I don't think there is a simpler way than 1, 2, 3 etc. and that's
sorted already in most file browsers and whatever one can think of. To
know what has to be applied we create an own table which just stores
the current version of the database. One only has to look at this
table and the present update files to see what needs to be applied and
because the naming scheme is pretty simple, it should be easy to
automate the updates as needed.
