Very few, if at all.

I suppose this is technically possible. But note that the book has
barely been updated since the 1.5 release anyway. There aren't many
people working on the book. Apart from a few occasional commits nothing
much is happening to it. So I'm more worried about whether we'll get the
book thoroughly updated for 1.7 in the first place. We'll need more
activity on the book's development to get to the point where thinking
about branching it for 1.7 is worth it.

In case you didn't know, the book is run as a regular open source
project, and anyone is welcome to send patches and get involved
to the point of getting direct commit access to the book.
See http://svnbook.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/en/HACKING if you're
interested. Contributions are not only welcome but very much needed.
