You don't say which flavour of Linux, but if you have a package manager, like yum or apt-get for example, it's much easier as they take care of all the dependencies.
Having said that, I personally had a hell of a time (and gave up for the time being) to unlock the keyring upon login. Once the keyring is unlocked the everything is fine, but I can't seem to be able to avoid entering the keyring password.
