It's useful as a first release, but if you'd like people to be able to
find it, it helps a lot to have a repository of vaguely reliable and
vetted components associated with a project. And the gods know I've
submitted many workarounds and patches to many tools over the years,
but until it's associated with the main codeline, there is
understandable reluctance to use them.
