Intermittent "Can't check path 'C:\pathname': Access is denied."

We've been running the Automated Build Studio from AutomatedQA for a
couple of years now, and it pulls source down from our svn server
periodically. Lately, we have been getting intermittent errors such as
the one that follows:

Execute the operation "Subversion Checkout - Checkout Lightning II
source files". URL: svn://database/source/Lightning II/trunk, Work
folder: C:\AutoBuild\Lightning II (Nightly Run), Revision: HEAD,
Recursive: True.

Error: Can't check path 'C:\AutoBuild\Lightning II (Nightly Run)':
Access is denied.

Error: Failed to execute the "Subversion Checkout" operation.

This script has been running for more than a year now, and the problem
just started cropping up. Of course it is not reproducible - that would
make it too easy. But we've seen it couple of times over the last week
or so representing maybe 30 checkouts or so.

Would anyone care to give a list of reasons svn would have trouble
checking a path? FWIW it's a 1.5.x client and a 1.6.x server, and the
client is running on WinXP.
