Pretty close, indeed. My only gripe would be that I don't want to
carry around this (and half a dozen other) helpers myself or out
of contrib, but rather have them available after a standard install.

Looking for the nearest trunk or branches/* and replacing that one
is probably much simpler than getting it integrated into 'svn switch',
as -t/--trunk and -b/--branch=. Ditto for merge. (After all, it would
cause svn commands to actually *know* about the t/t/b layout.)
