Once I get in, then there is the question of how well it works. Like all
OS, there are tons of possible dependancies, and the pure Debian folks
tend to be slow to move forward as they chase them all down. Last month
when I looked, 1.5.4 was the latest that was available.

There are "backports" that bring later packages into older mainline
versions, but sometimes they get into dependency hell as well.

In short, its great to say that the particular bug is fixed in a recent
release, but that doesn't mean its actually usable for folks unwilling
to get the sources and build their own.
