svn list not supporting svn:externals

I have been experimenting with using svn:externals as a way of producing a
subset of an actual repository in a similar fashion to the way you can
produce
Perforce client views, such that the atomic checkin is honoured. I have it
working (all externals are within the same repository) but I have one
drawback....
"svn list" doesn't seem to support the svn:externals properties. It seems
to me this would be really useful... i.e. being able to determine the list
of files and/or
directories in this logical "view" without having to physically export or
checkout the files.

Has there been any discussion on svn list supporting this? Anyone agree
that it should?

Thanks,

John
