Using subsvesion to control development of modules

Hi, I have several modules written in PHP for one product. So every time I
have to work on this modules, I have to copy them to the product directory,
then copy it backup to the module dir so I can commit to my repository.
There is any better way to have this done without copy/past to main product
dir then copy/paste backup back to the module dir?

thanks
