syncing a sandbox to another 'blessed' sandbox

Hi Folks,

We have a system of periodically creating a tag of our code base.
This happens asynchronously with the users.

We need a way to update the users' sandboxes to sync with the tagged version.
We cannot create a new sandbox each time since there may be edits in flight and files
with information not checked in (log files etc.)

I cannot find a a way to do this. Please help.
