That's very disappointing, I feel for the guy who developed the patch
only to have it rejected. LDAP auth is very important in a corporate
setting, I'd love to see svnserve using it - installs would be
as simple as can be then, and fast. I'd vote for the patch to be
reintroduced.
Maintenance... I don't see anyone using SASL, not after they try and
fail to get LDAP auth working with it. Removing the SASL support and
using LDAP directly would probably be a much better option for
maintaining the simple svnserve app, considering building svnserve with
SASL is apparently not trivial.
