Hi all,
I found the answer to my problems: it was about the ssh configuration.
I discovered that the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys is ignored if itself and the .ssh directory have the write permission for the group or for everyone.
A simple chmod 600 solved the problem. It's a pity that ssh doesn't provide adequate alerting for such underground errors.
