Exactly.

As I said, I installed the CollabNet Subversion onto the USB key. Yesterday I went to the lab and all I had to do was to change the PATH so that the system could find the svn command. Everything seems to work just fine.

I might have some issues with the eol, but I hava been working with Subversion for years now so I can manage.

So, to end the thread, if anybody is interested, the answer ot my original question is "Yes, you can install Subversion client on a USB key".
