Thanks for the quick response.

So is there an SVN way changing the structure without losing any history. As I am a CVS guy I would just go to the file system and move things to my satisfaction but in SVN I presume there must be an admin way of doing things. I've been using SubEclipse and choose the default options which is why I'm in this predicament. I would like the structure to be as follows as per your suggestion.

project1
 -- trunk
 -- branches
 -- tags

becomes

system
 -- trunk
      project1
      project 2
 -- branches
 --tags
