To me the reasons to move off CVS are:

-most clients do not work with the "newer" version (1.12)

-while the old version (1.11) is deteriorating (not working with current
environments, eg: it's not working with LDAP)

-no explicit support for UNICODE (text = ASCII in the CVS world)

-no atomic transaction, although I have never seen a case of a corrupted file.
