The hook scripts don't run in the background necessarily, but they do
run on the server, and the user is presumably sitting at his
workstation and not at the server, so no, you cannot show a form to
the user, or ask for user input in any other way. What task is it you
were thinking of running in a post-commit hook that would have
required user input?

You may want to write messages to the mailing list using your real

are really the Tigris postmaster.
