I guess I would expect moving from local disk to network mounted disk for
repository
storage would reduce performance. (We moved from nfs mounted repos on
netapp to SAN
storage and enjoyed a fairly hefty performance increase...)
Subversion is quite I/O intensive, so any additional overhead adds up...
I think v1.5 (or maybe v1.6 will) added the capability to move creation of
temporary files
from the repository directory to another location. This might help
performance in this
case, but isn't an easy option since your user is on v1.4...
v1.4 was also configured to use fairly small buffer size when copying
files, so you will
see a lot of partially filled network packets if you do a network trace.
