svn diff says --ignore-eol-style is an invalid option

Hi,

I'm trying to use the --ignore-eol-style option with svn diff in the
following command:

svn diff -x --ignore-eol-style URL1 URL2

However, this gives me the following error:
svn: invalid option: --ignore-eol-style

but when I use svn help diff, it indicates that the option exists
(version 1.4.6 (r28521)).

I must be missing something obvious here, but I don't know what
