Undo after file rename?

Hi all,

am I right in that chnages made prior to a file rename/move cannot
be undone in the lump using svn merge?

We are before a major website redesign which includes the
renaming of several key files. As we decided to do the redesign on
trunk rather than in a branch I would prefer having this rename
business as the last step as it affects practically every file on the
site (renamed files are php includes), thus resulting in the upload to
the live server of every file, which of course is fine
(searchenginewise) after the other work is done, but not wanted
before.

Yet I would like to know if any of the redesign steps in those php
include files still could be undone after they were renamed, just in
case.

I hope this makes sense ... Having so many ideas for and issues
with the bigger whole on mind spoils the clarity of expression when
trying to explain just a detail. Rarely needing to do I am not very
familiar with undoing (reverse merging) stuff, more rarely it works,
and given that mostly it comes out that directly editing things back
to the old state is faster.
