Getting the error "Svndiff has backwards-sliding source view" while performing any SVN operation

We have a SVN repository which was working fine until we started receving the error "Svndiff has backwards-sliding source view" while performing any SVN operation like (update,commit etc) after which the operation fails.Can somebody suggest what can be done to rectify this issue and prevent this from happening again.
