Permission Denied

I will start off admining I know nothing of subversion, but want to
learn. I have installed subversion, and subclipse on ubuntu 8.04. I have
been able to get my first project into subversion thru the subclipse
plugin. but when I tried to created another project, when I try to put
files, or mkdir I get a permission denied. I know i did the steps to add
a user, but not sure how to tell subclipse that I am that user. and cant
find any settings that differ from my first project that is working, to
my second project that is not. Please point me the in right direction.
