I have searched a bit, and it seems that the 1.4 package of Subversion is in Yast.

If that is not the correct version you want to use (It seems that Suse 10.2 still has Subversion 1.4.0 in their repositories), you have to install through source. The Subversion team won't provide packages for Suse. Take a look at http://my.opera.com/nguyenvantho/blog/show.dml/1439659 to see the steps needed to install it through source. Maybe use --with-prefix so you won't ruin your installation.

I have SuSE Linux Enterprise 10-SP1 in VM,
I want to install Subversion client on to it.

I tried the following client, while installing its throwing the following error for all the clients
