I've built svn with OS X 10.5.4 on an Intel Core Duo machine, and on
OS X 10.4.11 on a dual core Intel Xeon. I was able to build svn
successfully with sasl support and without. I have Xcode 3.0 on the
Leopard machine and 2.4.1 on the Tiger machine.
According to <http://flyingseagull.de/blog/files/
subversion_1_5_collabnet_fix.html> the problem is with open-ssl
libraries. I know I've installed open-ssl with fink the last time I
rebuilt my copy of PHP, so I probably have good versions of those.
When Gary rebuilt svn with sasl enabled (by default), his build of
svn still had problems with commit, so I suspect he has old or broken
versions of open-ssl installed. As Gary stated, building without sasl
enabled fixed the problem.
