So, it isn't a timing issue due to http:// dropping your connection,
and it isn't an issue of two people simultaneously attempting to
access the directory via the "file://" protocol.

I really can't say what could be the problem. Anyone else on this list
has any ideas?

Does 'svnserve' generate any logs? Try running svnserve with the
--forground parameter, so you can see the output. That might give you
some clue as to why you're having this issue.
