temporarily ignoring versioned directories/files

I have a folder that is under Subversion control.

I have replaced that folder with an older copy.

I need to perform an update on my tree, but I want svn update to ignore
that folder.

I don't believe this can be done with the current version.

Would it be hard to add a feature to update to allow directories/files to
be specified on the command line to ignore?
