Getting xinetd+svnserve working in Ubuntu Server 8

I'm trying to get svnserve working on my Ubuntu Server machine. I basically
want to run svnserve as a "service" (windows terminology?) so that I can
continue to use my server as normal. I want it to run like apache2 runs,
that is apache2 runs as a daemon and does not block me from doing other
things. I notice that just running svnserve blocks, and I cannot run other
commands, so I need alternatives.

The SVN book does not help me figure out at all how to do what I want to do.
I am also not sure how you tell xinetd what command to run on svnserve. For
example, I will need to be able to specify which root directory svnserve is
restricted to (I don't want to share my root).

Help is very much appreciated.
